# CrateScrape — Early Access License

Last updated: 2026-05-18

This is a plain-language license. The shorter version: you can use CrateScrape during the Early Access period, your music and your library data are yours, the software comes with no warranty, and Danny can revoke this license if you abuse it.

## 1. The license

You're granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and run CrateScrape on machines you personally control, for as long as the **Early Access period** is in effect. The Early Access period ends when Danny ships CrateScrape v1.0 — at which point Early Access users are granted a separate, free license for **v1.0** (and v1.0 only). Future major versions (v2.0+) may have different licensing terms.

This is not a "lifetime free" license, and CrateScrape is not open source. You may not redistribute, sublicense, sell, or fork the application or its source code.

## 2. Your data is yours

CrateScrape reads from your Serato library, your audio files, and the Spotify / Apple Music / Deezer APIs using credentials you provide. It writes to a private cache in `~/.dj-crates/` on your machine and — when you explicitly publish — to your Serato subcrates folder. It never modifies your underlying audio files, Serato's `_Serato_` database, or your Spotify account.

Your indexed library, saved crates, and configuration are stored locally on your machine. CrateScrape does not phone home with usage data. The one exception is the opt-in **crash reporter** in Settings → Data & Privacy, which is off by default. When enabled, only the app version, OS, and error stack are transmitted — never track paths, library content, or playlist data.

## 3. No warranty

CrateScrape is provided **as-is**, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Danny does his best to ship working software, but mistakes happen — especially in Early Access. You're responsible for keeping backups of your Serato library and audio files. Danny is not liable for any data loss, corrupted crates, missed gigs, or other damages arising from your use of CrateScrape.

## 4. License revocation

This license may be revoked at any time, with or without cause, if you:
- Redistribute, resell, or sublicense CrateScrape or its source
- Reverse-engineer the application to circumvent licensing
- Use CrateScrape in a way that disrupts the Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, or Serato platforms in violation of their terms
- Otherwise act in a manner Danny reasonably considers abusive

Revocation means you must stop using CrateScrape and remove it from your machines. It does not entitle you to any refund (Early Access is free), and it does not extend to v1.0 — once Early Access ends, Danny may decline to issue you a v1.0 license.
